Art Classes in Drawing and Oil Painting
The Boston School of Painting offers fine art classes in drawing and oil painting as taught in the tradition of 18th and 19th century European ateliers.
Studio art classes run continuously and include instruction in oil painting, drawing – using both graphite and charcoal – and the human figure. Further, Jason Polins personally assists all art students with their choice of art materials such as graphite, charcoal, chalk, paints and brushes. Equally important, he guides his students with selecting the appropriate paper or canvas for their assignments.
Jason’s approach to teaching is so successful that even a total beginner in arts is able to achieve mastery, no matter what their initial skill level.
Our next 14-week session begins January 7, 2020 and will continue through the spring of 2020. Please contact the school for details about upcoming fine art classes in drawing and oil painting.
Figure Painting Workshop
The fantastic Michelle Doll will be offering a figure painting workshop at Polins Atelier from February 1-2, 2020 for only $385! This workshop will run from 8-5 daily on both days.
This workshop is limited to 10 students. During this two-day workshop, the students will study basic and advanced techniques of painting the figure from life. Michelle will discuss elements in creating a strong visual narrative through compositional design, cropping, lighting and perspective. The students will learn an organized method of mixing a color palette, and various painting processes to encourage spontaneity while creating a visual narrative. They will gain a clear understanding of color and tonal relationships while strengthening realistic figure proportions and anatomy.
